Our History

BCBE Construction roots began in 1972 when two well-established building firms, Boran and Craig Construction and F.B. Schreck Construction Co. worked jointly on a project for the first time. This merger linked together three professionals who had virtually grown-up in the building field (as their fathers before them) forming Boran Craig Schreck Construction Co.

Through the years, Boran Craig Schreck Construction Co. developed a philosophy, personality, and style that set the company apart from others. This collection of beliefs formed our culture, which respects our employees and places the clients’ needs as our top priority. In 1986 Don Barber was added as a partner and president, strengthening the existing management team and forming a new company Born Craig Barber Construction Co.

In BCB’s continuing effort to give outstanding customer service in all aspects of its business, it was determined that it was time to start developing the company for the future and strengthening its leadership. So, in 1996 Melvin Engel became President forming Boran Craig Barber Engel Construction Co., Inc., bringing a wealth of experience with him as he began with Boran Craig Schreck in 1972 running the masonry and concrete division for years before becoming the head of field operations. Melvin’s leadership ability and strong operational background has generated an excellence in the construction process that is unmatched. Melvin believes the success of our company only exists because our clients provide us an opportunity to serve on their construction teams. Therefore, our client’s needs are top priority and the motivating strength in all of our daily activities.
