NAPLES, FL (February 4, 2008) -- Boran Craig Barber Engel Construction Co. Inc., (BCBE) which has built many of the high-rises that dot the Southwest Florida coastline, has opened a new division dedicated to commercial and residential interior finishing and remodeling. Interiors by BCBE specializes in both small and large projects – from pools and pavers to whole-home renovations.

“With the downshift in new-home construction, many people are opting to stay in their homes and remodel rather than sell,” says division vice president Jon Lawrence. “We have always been a full-service contractor but have made the decision to promote the interior finishing aspect of our business through this new division. It fills a market niche.”

Although exact numbers are not available, remodeling is on the rise in Southwest Florida, according to Kathy Guyitt, chairman of the Collier Building Industry Association’s Remodelors Council. “I’ve heard many stories of homeowners who have taken their homes off the market and have chosen to remodel,” she said. “I think remodeling will continue to be very strong in the next few years.”

Interiors by BCBE will offer a full range of services – from painting and trim work to cabinetry and garage additions. “BCBE has developed a number of close working relationships with local professionals and trades people over the past 36 years,” Lawrence said. “We’ve aligned ourselves with the best cabinetry companies, interior designers and professionals – people we know do a first-class job. Many Southwest Florida residents already know BCBE’s caliber of work.”

The Naples-based company has built 141 condominium towers in Southwest Florida in those 36 years, including two recently completed high-rise buildings for The Lutgert Companies – Aria on Park Shore and Esperia South in Bonita Bay. BCBE also completed the interior finishing work in both building’s lobbies and worked with several Esperia residents to redesign standard floor plans, said Lawrence.

“Who better to help with the interior finishing and remodeling than the company that built their home,” he said. “In some cases we were able to work with the owner during construction. If they had hired another contractor, they would have had to wait until the building was finished and permitted. We were able to move walls during construction and design and finish the space to fit their lifestyle.”

By enlisting Interiors by BCBE early in the construction project, a future resident of Aqua at Pelican Isle Yacht Club was able to combine two homes on two floors. 

BCBE has also built the St. Tropez and Riviera high-rise towers for Homes for America in Fort Myers’ River District and the North Naples United Methodist Church. The company is currently building the Hamilton Harbor Yacht Club for Barron Collier Companies. Two other projects under construction include villas in the Estuary at Grey Oaks and Tavira, The Lutgert Companies’ next high-rise at Bonita Bay.

Commercial projects include The Promenade in Bonita Springs, the build-out of the Naples Philharmonic Center and the addition of a new aluminum bar at Tony’s Off Third.

Lawrence said that Interiors by BCBE is dedicated to residential and commercial build-out and interior renovations. Its commercial and residential work will include whole-home renovations, floor plan redesign, building additions, installation of crown molding and cabinetry, painting, trim work, window replacement, and other floor-to-ceiling improvements and cosmetic changes.

The commercial division specializes in transforming building shells into offices, boutiques and restaurants.

The company also offers 24-hour warranty service.

“We’ve been around 36 years,” said Lawrence. “We have the experience and expertise to take a project from construction to finish.”
